Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a luggage theft where a substance thought to be pepper spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and charges for administering a noxious substance, according to official statements.

This legal action stems from an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their suitcases taken after exiting a car park lift, authorities reported.

A young child was one of the people hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to a medical facility and were eventually allowed to go home.

This event – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not being treated as terrorism – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
