Tottenham Manager Frank Calls Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Real Supporters'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Defeat Spurs and Raise Tension on Frank

Spurs fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told later "those individuals can't be real Spurs supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Tottenham conceded a pair of goals in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth Premier League home defeat of the year.

But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's second score when the keeper gave away possession far outside his box.

He ventured out to handle a long ball and took the ball towards the touchline.

However, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italian spun and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the goal from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball came to Vicario again, some Spurs supporters jeered him.

The team were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.

One of those jeering sessions truly irritated the manager.

"I heard a few of our fans reportedly booed the situation and booed after, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Alright jeering after the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are with each other moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second period showing.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the next score was "totally preventable".

"I certainly appreciate the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the part Vicario is performing. He is a excellent squad member, he's a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was deeply involved in what ended up to be the decisive goal."

'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Match

Italian national team the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.

He said after the match that he had to take the criticism.

"The second score was a mistake of mine, I take responsibility for that," he commented.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a bad way. That made an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He stated receiving jeers "comes with football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team can't be influenced by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It's on the team to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on ourselves. We are missing in calmness and poise to reverse outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it is tough to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite Vicario's mistake, it was far from an easy goal for Wilson to score.

In fact it was the second longest-range Premier League score of the season – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between Vicario exiting of his area and the midfielder striking – which was five moments following the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was out of the area for ages," he remarked.

"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes sparked a bit.

"Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a little additional opportunity. Then it was all about trying to achieve the right connection and get it on target. I felt a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an all-round poor day for Spurs to extend their home ground struggles.

This was their tenth home loss of 2025 in the league, a shared team record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to play prior to the end of the year.

Just a single of those victories have come after the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you as well – the opening was a redirected attempt, the next is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have lost another game. Every game has a single story, this game we were defeated in the early stages.

"We just need to keep working. The second half was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can use to develop."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two efforts on goal per game in the division – their poorest averages on record in a single campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He must take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He has taken a prestigious role at a major team with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
