The Renowned Musician Encourages Backing to Send Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The effort aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the industry. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The song blends a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The organizers behind the campaign have clarified that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a specific target,” a representative said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”
The song is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
