The Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their maiden World Series after 1993 by beating the Mariners in the decisive game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, guiding the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, the city, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another player anywhere that I want up in that spot besides him with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team that has never reached in a championship series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it's painful" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their performance this season.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the losing end of the series," he continued.

Toronto's team claimed the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in the opener on this Friday.
