President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Guard Soldiers to White House
President Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Background on the Tragic Event
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their honor.
White House Call
The president stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Response
Attendees came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to aid law enforcement in DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the principal of her alma mater, told the media. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to assist people.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments
Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The tragedy led the government to suspend asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader the governor stated on television.
Attorney general the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit the family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” he told the crowd at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
