Iran Claims Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.

Plumes of black smoke were seen rising above an area proximate to the central command of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
