Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation Advisers Face Members of Parliament's Grilling After Allegations of Prejudice in Unauthorized Document

Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation advisers speaking before MPs

We start with questions from Conservative lawmaker the committee chair, who oversees the group.

She commences by giving background to the leaked memorandum written by Michael Prescott and published in the Telegraph.

"It is not my wish for the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting this way or that way, I just want it neutral, impartial and just," he says.

In response to a query if he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, he responds: "Absolutely not. To be clear, a great deal the BBC produces is exceptional - including documentary and fictional shows."

However, he continues: "There remains substantial tasks that must be undertaken at the BBC."

A further former external BBC adviser interviewed by the committee, Caroline Daniel, states she takes the British Broadcasting Corporation very seriously and that it operates a "persistent practice and active debate" across dynamic and complex issues.

"Whether the BBC was ready to have a genuine dialogue and argument and take action?" she questions. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
